Teen Defensive Driving
Tailored Training to Help Teens Navigate the Road with Confidence
Learning to drive is an exciting milestone, and we’re here to make sure it’s a safe one. Whether your teen is just starting out or ready to gain more experience behind the wheel, our defensive driving courses provide the skills, confidence, and knowledge they need to become responsible drivers. With a blend of classroom instruction, simulator training, and real-world driving practice, we prepare students for the road ahead.
36-Hour Teen Defensive Driving Class
Course Price: $656
- 30 Hours of Classroom Instruction (4 days, 9am – 5pm)
- 1 Simulator Session (2 hours, self-scheduled)
- 4 Behind-the-Wheel Driving Lessons (1 hour each, self-scheduled)
40-Hour Teen Defensive Driving Class
Course Price: $866
- 30 Hours of Classroom Instruction (4 days, 9am – 5pm)
- 1 Simulator Session (2 hours, self-scheduled)
- 8 Behind-the-Wheel Driving Lessons (1 hour each, self-scheduled)

Students should also download and print the TN Department of Safety Driver License Manual.
Program Completion
- All sessions must be completed within 8 months of the first classroom day.
- Students will receive a Certificate of Completion after the final Behind-the-Wheel lesson is complete.
- *Optional* The TN State Road Test is available to students after course completion for an additional $63.
Important Updates for Teen Drivers
- Hardship License Requirement (Effective Sept. 1, 2023):
All 14-year-olds must have a Pending Letter of Approval for a Hardship License in order to attend class. No exceptions. - Knowledge Test:
Driving schools are no longer permitted to administer the Knowledge Test to obtain a Learner’s Permit. Students must complete this test at the DMV. - Tennessee Road Test Eligibility:
- Must be 15 years & 6 months old to take the TN State Road Test (additional $63 fee).
- Must complete a 36-hour program with a passing grade.
- Must hold a valid Tennessee Learner’s Permit.
- Road Test scores are valid for 1 year.
